Qualifications: The company secretary must be a natural person who ordinarily resides in Hong Kong or a body corporate that has its registered office or a place of business in Hong Kong

Role and responsibilities: The company secretary is responsible for ensuring that the company complies with all relevant legal requirements, maintaining the company's statutory records, filing statutory documents with the Companies Registry, arranging board meetings, and managing communication with shareholders and directors

Changes in appointment: Any changes in the company secretary must be reported to the Companies Registry within 15 days of the change. This includes resignations, appointments, and changes in particulars.

Penalties: Failure to appoint a company secretary or to comply with the relevant requirements can result in fines for both the company and its officers.

If the refund is made before a taxpayer claims the domestic rent deduction, he / she can only claim the reduced amount of the rent paid. If the refund is made after a taxpayer has claimed the tax deduction, he / she must notify the Department in writing of the refund within 3 months after the date of refund. If the tax deduction has been allowed, an additional assessment will be made on the taxpayer to withdraw the deduction.

Notwithstanding that your spouse is not a Hong Kong resident, you are eligible to claim married person´s allowance in any year of assessment if you are married at any time during that year

Child allowance for any year must be claimed en bloc by only one of the parents.

In the context of considering a taxpayer’s eligibility for dependent parent / grandparent allowance, the term “ordinarily resident in Hong Kong” means that, apart from temporary or occasional absences from Hong Kong, the dependant habitually resides in Hong Kong, and is living in Hong Kong as an ordinary member of the community would live for all the purposes of his/her daily life.

In general, a person living in the same building of that of the dependent parents but on a different floor does not satisfy the requirement of residing with the dependent parents for the purpose of claiming Additional Dependent Parent Allowance.
